[A/N - this chapter is thicc. Just like...... oop.]
Emma had caught the bus to school the next morning. She'd left at some point before the rest of them had gotten up. Evan sat in the kitchen with a coffee and his book waiting for Ethan. Morning practices had started up for the year, so his idiot brother dragged himself out at unholy hours, and came back after practice to shower and pick Evan up.
Thankfully that was the one single compromise they had been able to reach for sharing the car. The rest was a brutal tug of war with the poor vehicle stuck in the middle. Weekends were especially contended.
Evan idly flicked through the pages of his newest book as he heard Ethan rush about around him, half throwing protein bars and shit looking sandwiches into his bag.
"Lets go—" Ethan hollered, "We're late."
Evan gladly shut his book. It wasn't very good. This time the romance had the male main character acting like some sort of rabid dog when it came to the girl.
Was that supposed to be appealing? He'd ask Riley.
The ride to school was uneventful, until as they parked, Ethan turned to Evan before he could get out. He thumbed at a stray string on his sweater.
"Can you come to the gym with me today?"
Evan blinked. "What?"
"The gym. After school. Can you come?"
Evan wrinkled his nose. "Seriously? To do what?"
Ethan shrugged. "Coach won't be there today, I need help organising the team."
"And you want me to help, seriously Ethan?"
"You're good at that shit."
"I don't want to."
"But you don't have tutoring for ages. You have time. Please Ev."
"No?"
Ethans eyes narrowed. "Fine. I'll cash in my anything favour."
"Oh for fucks sake," Evan groaned. Ethan had one single favour from the time Evan had gotten himself and Willow stranded at the library with no money to get the bus home. The prick had only driven to get them for an anything favour, much to Evans annoyance.
The anything favours were unbreakable. They had been since the two of them had been kids. They had rules of course, but Ethans request fell firmly within the boundaries of those rules.
He could see the team bounding up to the car like a hoard of over excited puppies, so in his hurry to leave, he agreed.
"Fine," he shot out.
Some of the team started knocking on Ethans window, smiling toothily.
He opened the door, only to trip face first out of it, landing straight into someone tall and sturdy.
"Agh—" he spluttered, he scrambled to right himself, in doing so, planting a hand into a torso of lean muscle, he recoiled, sending himself at a higher velocity into the ground until hand gripped his arm, aiding him in his scramble to stand and saving him from becoming acquainted with the concrete.
After a moment, he froze, recognising a golden face and deep, dark eyes staring down at him. The boy chuckled, his eyes turning into little crescents. Kei didn't let go of his arm.
"Kei, shit— sorry," he spluttered.
His face burned. Shit. Shit. Fuck. Why did it have to be him? Of all fucking people, it had to be Kei that he faceplanted into. He was sure he was fucking crimson at this point.
