By three in the morning, the party had emptied out, and it was only really the team that remained, all in various states of disarray. Alex and Hugo were splayed on the couch singing an incredibly ridiculous song from the frozen soundtrack that Hugo had playing on his phone.

Oliver and Willow sat on the stairs locked deep in discussion about something.

Luke was passed out on the couch with his head resting on his girlfriends lap, who was still awake, tapping away on her phone beside him, sparing him an occasional fond glance. They were actually really cute together. Evan found himself sending them glances every so often, wondering wistfully what it would be like to do that with Kei.

At some point, Riley had descended the stairs and announced her departure, sending Evan a look that he had no idea how to decipher.

Sometimes he thought Riley spoke an alien language.

Kei hadn't left his side all night, very much fueling Willow's suggestive winks from the stairs as he drunkenly chatted away about anything that crossed his mind. Mostly volleyball, secondary to anime with a side order of some of Kei's most truly random observations.

Evan was entranced by it, by him. Kei could be doing anything and Evan would just be happy to watch... He didn't know what that said about him.

That tension between them had remained. It hung in every glance, every movement, shrouding them like thick, hot fog.

Kei's eyes lingered on him, or rather they never really left.

Evan wondered if it had always been there, but he was just now noticing it.

"Where's Ethan?" Kei questioned slowly.

Evan blinked, jolted from his sluggish train of thought. He just shrugged. "No clue."

Kei looked around, but seemed to dismiss it, instead sighing. "I'm tired," he groaned, rubbing at his eyes.

Ethan chose that moment to stumble down the stairs.

Evan felt his eyes narrow. He looked disheveled, his hair ruffled up and neck slightly pink. He looked away, shaking his head slightly. He didn't want to know. Not at all. Not in the fucking slightest.

"You guys crashing here?" He called out to the team.

A few nodded.

"Usual plan then?" Ethan said tiredly. More tired nods and murmurs.

Willow popped her head over the couch, "I'm gonna go back to my place," she said to Evan, smiling slyly, "Don't wanna crash your room."

Evan stared, fighting the blush that crept onto his cheeks. "Uh— okay, do you want me to walk back with you?"

She shook her head, "Nope."

It was then that Evan spotted Oliver waiting by the door. He turned back to Willow, raising an eyebrow.

"Hey—" Willow uttered, "We're just talking."

"Mhm," Evan hummed, "Sure, have fun."

Willow grinned, and with not another word, she turned and walked happily out the door with Oliver.

Immediately, Kei turned to him, sitting with his legs crossed, so close that one knee sat directly on top of Evans.

"Do you think Ollie likes her?" Kei murmured, "I've never seen him actually go out of his way to talk to someone like that."

Brightness flickered in his chest, and he smiled, "Hope so, I like them together."

"They suit each other," Kei agreed, "Ollie can't stand idiots, and she's about as smart as they get."
