[A/N - everyone get your shit together its happening... ;) hehe]
To say Evan had stewed in his anxiety over sending Kei a link to one of the the gayest books on the planet would be an understatement. He was petrified. All day, Kei hadn't said a word about the book, but he hadn't acted like anything was different either.
He was the same Kei, nothing out of place.
Evan was still terrified. Maybe he hadn't started it? That had to be it—
It was Tuesday evening and Evan lay in a blanket burrito in his bed questioning his life choices with a bowl of popcorn cradled under one arm.
As regretted everything for the hundredth time, his phone buzzed. Immediately he clicked on the message, heart thudding.
@keisasaki - i get it now
Evan paused, staring at his screen. What? Was this the book? Oh god. Was it about him? What the FUCK was that supposed to mean? Evan just stared, his heart racing. Did he get it, as in, he recognised Evans' raging crush now? Or get it as in get that Evan was gay and he thought it was gross and awful and— his phone buzzed.
@keisasaki - the bad boy thing is kind of hot
Holy shit.
Evan froze. He thought his brain might be shorting out. What? He blinked at the screen. As in, objectively... Or— Kei was into it, that being men, therefore meaning Evan had a chance. Or hey, he reasoned with himself, it could just be an aesthetic observation, like a straight man goals type thing?
Was he maybe not at the gay part yet? Maybe he could still change his mind, could still decide it was gross and awful and tell everyone about it and leave Evan and—
His phone buzzed rapidly. Kei was calling him. What— why was he calling him. Oh god. He really regretted having sent the book in the first place.
Evan was practically vibrating with anxiety, but he clicked the accept call button.
"Sorry I needed to talk and I'm shit at texting—" Kei blurted out.
"O-oh?" Evan managed.
"Yeah, anyways I just finished the book and—"
"You finished it?" Evans' eyes widened. Oh god. That means he'd read everything. All of it. All of the gayest gay romance ever and he was—
"It was good, I so get it Evan, the main guy, he's hot, I mean hey, I understand the bitchy thing now, like sarcastic n shit, kinda like you—" Kei paused.
Fine with it? Wait what? Like— him? The one he'd just called hot was... like... him?
"I mean like humour wise," Kei let out a small, awkward chuckle. "Or like, well— a few things, not really the bad boy thing, but like everything else, sorry— I'm rambling, anyways I liked your book and you should send me another one."
There was silence for half a second before Evan recovered enough to speak.
"Oh, I can uh, find another one—"
"Please do, also, how are you?" Kei started, "I never really talked to you alone today and I sort of miss— am bored right now."
Evan smiled. Kei rambled, seemingly about nothing and everything at the same time. He felt some of the tension bleed from his shoulders.
"I'm good, also did you just call me bitchy?"
"Huh—"
"Before, you said—"
