Evan woke to Kei's phone ringing.
Kei groaned, twisting around to grab the thing, then he swore under his breath. Evan looked over blearily to see the caller ID on Kei's phone.
It was Ethan.
Kei cleared his throat, then answered the phone, and Evan kept his mouth firmly shut.
He was close enough to Kei that he could hear his brother talking.
"Hey where are you, your mom said you didn't come home last night," Ethan stated.
"Huh? Are you at my place?"
"Yeah, we said we'd go to the gym this morning, remember?"
Kei's eyes blew wide, "Oh fuck, shit, sorry I forgot."
At that moment, Evan remembered that Kei was actually friends with Ethan. Somehow the thought continued to slip his mind.
"Where are you?" Ethan questioned, and even through the phone, he could hear the suspicion in his brother's voice.
"Uh," Kei mumbled, and Evan could see him rapidly searching through his head for an adequate excuse. He looked slightly panicked. "Erm, I'm uh—"
"Are you with someone?" Ethan uttered in disbelief.
"No—" Kei said immediately. Evan winced. Well that was unconvincing.
"Kei actually? Is it a girl? Who?" Ethan uttered, seemingly baffled.
"No, no one, where are you?" Kei stumbled over his words.
"Waiting for you?"
"I'll meet you at the gym, yeah?"
"But—"
"See you bye," Kei shot out, then hung up. "Fuck," he swore.
"He won't figure it out," Evan reasoned, "It's fine— really. He literally has no reason to suspect us."
Kei dragged himself up, "I know, I just— ugh, he'll be stubborn as shit about it." He groaned, "And now I have to leave dammit—"
Sleepily, Kei stumbled out of bed and rummaged on the floor for his shirt.
"Where did it go?" He uttered, confused.
Evan sat up, peering over and onto the floor, "It has to be somewhere"?
Kei checked under the bed, then rummaged in a panic through the sheets, only to find nothing. "Oh come on," he complained.
"You can borrow one of mine?" Evan supplied, getting up, "I'll find one Ethan won't recognise."
"Ok," Kei managed, still searching for the shirt.
After a second of searching, Evan pulled out a basic black shirt, while small, it wouldn't be recognisable. He handed it to Kei, who pulled it on.
It was noticeably small, but Kei just shrugged, "It'll do—"
Then, Kei leant over and kissed Evan goodbye.
"Sorry for leaving, I'll make it up to you, yeah?"
Evan nodded, reaching up to flatten his hair slightly, as the black strands shot straight up. "Yeah, see you—"
With that, Kei grabbed his bag and hopped out the window.
Smiling, Evan moved to sit back on his bed, scrolling through his phone. As he did, he noticed a scrap of white fabric peeking out from under his pillow. He pulled it out to find Kei's shirt. It was a white one with an anime graphic on the front.
