2|First Day

Raven's POV

I sat on the hard, uncomfortable chair in the hallway, watching the clock on the wall tick away.

This is just what I'd expected.

Just a bunch of rich kids with privileges.

I told Sergei I didn't want to go to this school, yet he still forced me to.

I mean he didn't have much of a choice.

I'd been expelled from all the other public schools.

I need to keep my calm this time.

This is my last chance.

I can't get into any fights.

If I want to work for Sergei's mafia, I need to graduate from this place and in order to graduate, I can't get expelled.

Everyone keeps looking at me.

I tried my best to look like I fit in.

I even tried to style my hair in a ponytail to look like the other girls.

Suddenly, two girls exchanged a look before slowly approaching me.

Great.

"You're the new girl, right?" The blond on asked. "I'm Chloe."

"And I'm Sophie," the black haired one added as she sat next to me.

"Not looking for friends," I coldly said as I began to get up, but Chloe held me down.

"Not so fast," she said and I took a deep breath to control my anger.

"You'll need friends here," Sophie said. "Who are your parents?"

"My dad is the mayor," Chloe boasted.

"My mom is Sofia Chen," Sophie proudly said. "The CEO of Chen International."

They waited for an excited reaction from me, but they didn't get one.

"So aren't you going to tell us who your parents are?" Sofia asked and I turned to her.

"No."

Chloe laughed before sitting down on the other side of me. "I see you aren't very friendly."

"I didn't come here to make friends," I made it clear and she shrugged.

"I don't think any of us did," she said.

"I don't have any parents, okay?" I told them in hopes that they would realized that I'm not important and leave me alone, but it did the opposite.

"Oh," Chloe frowned, her voice gentler now. "I didn't know."

"That sounds so hard," Sophie said. "But hey, you're here now, right? That means you've got someone looking out for you."
