Raven's POV
I knocked on Cassian's door before looking back at the front guards.
Susan was supposed to come and get me, but they had seen my face so much that they didn't bother to wait on her.
The Volkov's guards would never.
The door finally opened and revealed an older man.
He raised his eyebrow. "Who are you?"
Susan quickly ran to the door. "Mr. Hawthorne! It's one of Cassian's classmates. She came here to work on a project."
He rolled his eyes in response before walking away.
Susan opened the door wider for me. "Come in."
When I did, she walked out.
"You leaving?" I asked and she nodded.
"I'm not needed tonight," she said. "You know your way up to Cassian's room, right?"
I nodded before closing the front door.
As I walked to the stairs, my eyes landed on a woman in the kitchen.
She looked young and beautiful with straight brown hair.
She looked just like Cassian and had his height too.
It must be his older sister or mother.
"Come here," she said as she poured herself some white wine.
I looked around, checking to see if someone else was near her.
She couldn't possibly be talking to me.
She finally looked up and locked eyes with me. "Are you going to disobey me in my own house?"
I quickly walked towards her. "I'm sorry, I couldn't tell if you were talking to me or not."
She pointed to the dining room table. "Sit."
I immediately shook my head. "Oh no, I'm not staying. I just came to-"
She gave me intimidating look and I sighed before going to sit.
She soon followed behind me and began to share a plate for herself. "Help yourself."
I silently watched the food as I tried to come up with an excuse to leave.
Suddenly, Cassian appeared with the man from before.
When he saw me, his eyes immediately widened under his glasses.
I stood up as he walked towards me.
"Raven, what are you doing here?" He asked.
"She came here to work on a school project with you," the man answered for me. "Aren't you going to introduce us to your friend?"
Cassian cleared his throat before pushing up his glass. "Um, this is Raven. She's helping me with some things."
