[A/N - this is a smut chapter guys, no getting around it........ after the conversation at the begining, it ramps up pretty quickly]
Evan felt like again, had precisely zero time, and it was driving him insane.
With the prelims so close, practice had ramped up tenfold. He was stubbornly holding onto a few of his tutoring sessions, figuring he needed the money more than ever due to the war happening in his house.
No matter what Ethan said, Dad was still convinced that Evan was at fault.
Ethan looked about ready to yank his hair out after every interaction, and Evan felt the same.
"I can't fucking believe him," Ethan cried as they sat in the car on Thursday, sharing a tub of ice cream for dinner after yet another shouting match between Ethan and Dad.
Dad was still convinced every step of the way that Evan was the problem.
Shouting at each other was now the only time anyone in their house talked to Dad, otherwise adhering to the vow of silence.
Evan sighed, "He's not going to change his mind, you do know that right?"
"But if I just—"
"Just do nothing," Evan said, fatigue settling over his shoulders. "Really, I appreciate you trying to stand up for me, but this arguing is going nowhere and you know it."
Ethan frowned, as if he didn't want to accept Evans words.
"Why can't you just do something to throw him off?" Ethan uttered, "Like the fake girlfriend thing."
Not that again.
Evan groaned, "You really think that'll do anything?" he deadpanned. It wouldn't, and anyways, he couldn't throw some poor girl under the bus like that.
"I mean at least it'll make him less insufferable."
Evan shook his head. "It won't. He'll find something else to pick at."
Ethan groaned, sitting back as they sat in the car parked on the curb.
"Evan, just think, it can't go on like this until we graduate, seriously, what happens if he finds out you're gay?"
Ethan looked horrified at the thought, Evan felt the same. It would be the final nail in the coffin for Evan, and he couldn't even imagine how angry Dad would be.
"Then i'm fucked," Evan shrugged, trying hard to seem like it didn't bother him as much as it did. "But he won't find out."
"Jesus, I hate your whole don't give a fuck outlook right now, seriously," Ethan groaned, "It's stressing me the fuck out."
Evan scoffed, "Would you rather I have a fucking meltdown about it then?"
"Obviously not—"
"Then drop it please," Evan sighed, "I'm tired of Dad and his bullshit, and I just want to forget about it, okay? You should too."
"Fine—"
Evan picked up his hurriedly readied bag, "Okay I'm leaving now see you tomorrow."
"Where are you going?" Ethan uttered, perplexed. "We're home?
Evan just shrugged, "I'm going, uh— somewhere else."
"Is this the boyfriend? Do you want a lift?"
"So you can snoop? God no—"
"Why can't I?" Ethan complained, "Seriously, you know I wouldn't judge. Do I know him or something?"
Evan winced, "No, I just don't want to tell you—" he shrugged, "Bye."
