Cassian's POV

"Raven got expelled today," I randomly said out loud as I played with my dinner.

"Serves her right," my father muttered.

"Edward!" My mom shouted.

"What?" He shrugged. "They were in his bed together. She has the power to humiliate our family."

Memories of the punches my father sent me shortly after Raven left, resurfaced.

"She was protecting me," I said with passion before I looked up at him.

"From what?" He asked, not interested at all.

"From who?" I corrected. "Carter."

He rolled his eyes.

"That kid has nothing on you. You're richer, smarter, stronger, everything," he praised me. "He's just like his idiot father."

"He does have something on me," I admitted the secret I had kept for years. "He knows that I'm colourblind."

My last statement interested my parents, so they quickly looked at me.

"If it weren't for Raven, he would have told everyone," I stretched the truth.

"The least we could do is get her back into the school," I said. "Maybe give Principal Lockwood a call."

"Do you know the amount of money I'm already donating to that dumb school?" My father asked with gritted teeth.

"Please," I begged.

"No, I've heard enough," he dismissed me, but I stood up from my seat firmly.

"This isn't about money," I snapped. "It's about doing what's right!"

"Maybe we should hear him out," mom told him, but he didn't react.

"You know what, I'll find my own way to get Raven back into Briarwood," I began to walk off, but he stood up.

"Cassian, wait," he sighed.

I kept still with my back still turned to him.

He sighed again. "I'll call Lockwood."

I turned around and glanced at his phone and dialed a number.

"It's me," he said after a ring. "I need you to allow that Raven girl to come back to school."

He shook his head. "No, no, no, immediately."

"Good," he ended before hanging up.
