Raven's POV

I stayed stiff under the covers as my heart raced.

I glanced at the clock on my nightstand and it was already eleven in the morning.

I smiled when my bedroom door finally opened.

"Birdy," Ryan called as he fixed his shirt and sat at the edge of my bed.

I turned away from him, pretending to be angry.

"I know you're mad and you think that I seem unfair right now, but I'm only doing what's best for you," he started.

I turned to face him. "No, you're doing what you think is best for me."

"I love you," he said. "And one day you'll thank me."

"Thank you for what?" I asked confused. "Grounding your seventeen year old, sister?"

He tried to give me a kiss, but I threw my pillow at him.

"Birdy, I'm going to work until midnight," he sighed. "Let's not end things on a bad note."

A flashback of when he told mom and dad how much he hated them when they forced him to sell his guitar.

He didn't speak to them for a week and they died before he ever got a chance to.

I forced myself to look away from him. "Just go."

I could hear his heart breaking into to pieces as he got up and left.

I don't want to hurt my brother, but I can't keep pretending like everything is okay between us.

When I heard the front door close, guilt pressed against my chest as I got up to see his car drive off.

I immediately picked up my phone and grabbed my bag.

Me: He's gone.

I smiled when I saw the reply.

I'm 1 minute away :)

I made sure I had everything before walking out the house and getting into the car.

When I closed the door, I glanced over to see Cassian in the driver's seat.

"How'd you pull this off?" I asked, still in massive shock.

"Let's just say this is the last day you'll see me alive, so make the best of today with me," he said as I punched in the coordinates.

"Where's this place again?" He asked as he began to drive.

"A cabin in the woods," I told him. "A couple hours out."

I asked Alana if she knew any secluded areas in Cali and she said that Sergei owned a cabin.

"No one will find us there," I promised him.
