Cassian's POV

Forests have never been an interest to me.

The colours were muted for me.

The "greens" of the trees were nothing but shades of grey and brown that stretched endlessly in every direction.

However, if I squinted my eyes, I could make out a few patches of sunlight breaking through the canopy.

I couldn't see the vibrancy people always talked about and that sucked, but hey...I was used to it.

I glanced down to see Raven leading the way in front of me.

Her shorts were ridiculously short.

Her butt or what she liked to refer it as her "ass" was exposed and distracting.

The combination of those shorts and the, what appears to be pink, tank top which hugged her figure tightly was doing nothing but distracting me.

Her skin glowed faintly in the dappled sunlight filtering through the trees.

I could see the faint curve of her back as the tank top rode up slightly with each step she took.

"Are you staring?" She asked suddenly, turning her head to look over her shoulder.

Her hair was in a ponytail with my cap on her head.

"No," I lied immediately before adjusted my glasses and looking off to the side.

She halted. "You're a terrible liar."

"If you don't believe me, just walk behind me," I told her. "I can't stare if I don't see."

I began to walk before passing her.

Suddenly, I felt her soft hand intertwining with mine as she walked in line with me.

I looked down at her. "What is this?"

She looked at me for a second and for the first time ever, a flash of fear appeared on her face before she quickly returned to her nonchalant one.

"I don't know," was all she said and I left it at that.

We walked around in silence and hand-in-hand for around ten minutes.

She seemed like she was enjoying it, me not so much, but how could I ruin it?

Raven isn't the type of person to like things, so I'll take it all in.

We finally saw a log and settled on it to have a water break.

"My parents died in a car crash," she suddenly said as she looked down. "My dad had a heart attack and lost control. The impact was so bad that it killed them both."
