Cassian's POV

I glanced at Raven as our history teacher reviewed what we discussed today.

She was totally out of it.

She has been ever since last night.

I tapped my pen on my desk softly, trying to focus, but my thoughts keep returning to her.

I can't imagine what she's going through.

Finding out your entire life wasn't what you thought it was?

That the people you've called family were keeping something like that from you?

It's too much for anything to handle, let alone Raven—someone who tries so hard to hold it all together.

The teacher's voice faded into the background as I watched her.

She didn't blink, didn't move, like she was stuck in some invisible fight with her own thoughts.

I wanted to take all that aching she was going through away.

However, those simple kisses and cuddles I give her, can't even make a dent.

I sighed out of frustration.

Breakfast was awkward.

My parents aren't the most comforting so they decided to shut up this morning, which I was so thankful for.

I haven't had a quiet morning like that in years.

The bell finally rang and I quickly made my way over to her.

"What are you doing now?" I asked her and she looked at her watch.

"I have twenty minutes before I go to practice with Chloe, Emma, and Abigail."

I nodded.

Twenty minutes?

That's a lot of time.

"Do you want to go to a private room?" I asked her, my heart racing in fear of her declining.

She smirked before leaning back in her seat. "Why would I?"

I adjusted my glasses, feeling a bit flustered. "You know..."

"No, I don't know," she said, looking confused.

I scratched my head. "To loosen some tension."

She crossed her arms. "How will we do that?"

My cheeks began to heat. "Raven, come on."

She stood up, her sensual perfume intoxicating me. "Why not loosen some tension here?"

She bit her lips as she stared at mine.

I quickly turned her face away when I felt butterflies in my stomach. "You're silly."
