Cassian's POV
My parents and I silently ate dinner.
I checked the time on my new phone and Raven still wasn't home yet.
Should I call?
No, she's probably just taking some alone time.
"Stop worrying about her," my father said while cutting his snapper. "She comes along with too many issues."
My mother sighed. "That poor girl. No wonder she got in a fight with Carter."
I tightened my grip around my fork.
"I got her mother a promotion," dad said. "Maybe that can help them."
"Those people don't need money, they need to sort themselves out and stop confusing that girl," mom argued and I rolled my eyes.
I heard the front door open and I quickly jumped up and ran towards it.
Raven walked in with Ryan following behind her.
"Bye...father," she awkwardly said as she avoided eye contact with him.
"Bye...daughter," he matched her awkwardness as he looked at me.
I waved at him and he waved back.
"Mr. Castillo," my father said as he and my mom walked in.
Ryan shook dad's hand. "Thank you for letting her stay here. I seriously don't know how to repay you."
Dad shook his head. "Her mother is the hardest worker I know. You don't have to worry about it."
Ryan nodded before looking at Raven.
"If you need anything just let me know, okay?" He asked and she nodded before he hugged her. "Love you."
"Love you," she answered back before he left.
My parents made their way to their room, leaving us alone.
"Are you okay?" I asked her and she nodded with a bright smile.
"Ryan and I talked," she said. "I hate him less."
I laughed as we walked up the stairs. "Will you ever stop hating him?"
"Hell no," she said. "I'll forever be his hater."
"You're evil," I told her.
"Just how you like it," she said and I felt a flutter in my stomach.
I stopped her as we reached halfway up the stairs.
"For the love of God, kiss me," I begged, my voice desperate and impatient.
She paused, looking at me with an unreadable expression.
She closed the space between us before shifting all her weight to her toes.
