Raven's POV
I hid under the covers as the embarrassment from last night still haunted me.
The one time I tried to put myself out there, he didn't like it.
I wasn't sexy enough.
I flinched when I heard a knock on the door.
"Raven?" His soft voice called me from outside.
I squeezed my eyes shut and gripped my pillow tightly.
I was already in my uniform, but I couldn't go downstairs.
I couldn't leave the room.
He knocked on the door again before slowly opening the door.
"Raven?" He called. "Are you still sleeping?"
My eyes locked with his due to the small space my blanket didn't cover.
He was dressed in his uniform with his backpack on his back.
"It's time to go," he said, giving me a small, awkward smile.
Just kill me already.
"I'm not feeling good," I lied. "I'll get there on my own when I'm better."
A concerned look appeared on his face before he stepped closer to the bed. "Do you need me to get you medicine? Is it a stomach ache?"
I hate lying to him.
He's so damn innocent.
I turned my head away from him, allowing the blanket to fully cover me now.
"It's personal," was the best I could come up with.
There was an awkward amount of silence before he cleared his throat.
"Okay, I'll leave you alone," he said before turning around.
When the door closed behind him, I let out a shaky breath, the guilt building up in my stomach.
I slowly got out of bed and grabbed my bag before making my way out on the road.
I would surely miss first period, but it was better than having a long, awkward drive with Cassian.
____
"Ms. Castillo," my Latin teacher, Mrs. Prichard, stopped me from leaving the classroom.
It took everything in me not to roll my eyes.
She was one of the stiff, no-nonsense ones.
"Yes, ma'am?"
"You arrived to my class twenty minutes late," she said. "You're lucky I even let you in. Where is your written note?"
"I don't have one," I told her. "I won't come late again."
She hardened her face as she observed me.
"Your skirt is far too short," she complained. "And your bosom is far too large for that shirt."
