Evan wanted to melt into the floor at the look on his brother's face.
No way this was happening right now.
Why— the fuck, was Ethan here?
Having been jolted by Evans' colossal flinch, Kei looked up, and on noticing Ethan standing in the door, frozen dead still, his expression morphed into a mixture of sheer shock, and a healthy dose of pure, undiluted panic.
Evan watched in seeming slow motion as Ethans eyes flicked over the room and the moment realised just what he was witnessing. Clothes strewn on the floor, sheets everywhere, and mortifyingly— the string of fucking condoms scattered very fucking obviously on the floor.
"Oh my god," Ethan said, taking a long step back, gulping sheepishly. "I— did not expect that, okay, wow— should I go?" He winced, "Scratch that, I will go, erm— right now actually."
With that, he turned, and all but sprinted out.
Evan blinked in growing horror.
They'd just talked about telling him, but shit— now he knew and dammit— fuck— he wanted to smack his idiot brother around the face for not knocking.
"Fuck—" Kei croaked.
Evan rolled out of bed in a panic, swearing as he hit the floor in the process. He winced and dragged himself upright in a hurry, fumbling with the first shirt he found on the floor and tugging it on.
"Wait—" Evan cried, "Ethan come back—"
Kei sat stock still, a growing look of resignation taking over his face.
Dammit. He couldn't let Ethan leave like this. Not with Kei thinking Ethan hated him or something. Shit— Kei had agonised over this for so damned long, now his moment had just gone up in flames.
Evan heard the door slam, and in a hurry, he bolted out the door after his brother.
"Ethan—" he called, yanking the front door open.
The boy was halfway out to the car.
"Ethan, for fucks sake come back here," Evan barked.
Slowly, Ethan turned, looking horrendously awkward.
"Ev i'm sorry—" he squeaked, "I should have knocked, seriously I don't know what I was thinking—"
"Shut up," Evan groaned, "Not the point. Now you know. Surprise— now can you just get the fuck back in there and tell Kei you don't hate him please?"
Ethan blinked, his awkwardness being replaced by confusion. "Why would I hate him?"
Evan wanted to strangle the fucking dumbass, "What do you think that looked like back there? You saw us together, then stormed out in a rush."
Understanding dawned on Ethans face, "Oh—" he managed, "Oh shit, that's not—" He shook his head rapidly, "I just, I assumed you didn't want me there, i-it's okay though," he added hurriedly, "You two, o-okay. Seriously, I just really don't know what's happening? A-are you together? Like actually, because that's insane—"
Evan pointed back to the house, "Go talk please. Now."
Ethan nodded dumbly. "R-right, okay, erm, you're right."
Evan stared expectantly, and Ethan zipped past him and back in through the front door.
He sighed, massaging his eyes as he stood on the pavement. Jesus christ. What an idiot. For the hundredth time, he vehemently wished that Ethan would have fucking knocked.
