[A/N - head over heels mvp incoming. love this guy]
They actually won their first game the next day.
Hugo, albeit slightly shaky, after being medicated again, seemed to have picked himself up a considerable amount. They all played their best game so far. Alex and Callum had also gotten their shit together, and seemed on a mission to gain Hugo's forgiveness.
Hugo, Evan noted, was still dodging Alex.
Not as noticeably, but still, the vibes were still weird. Not bad anymore, just— weird?
Then, after the second game, the party arrived.
The party being Luke and Willow, who seemed to have pulled the weirdest carpool in history, and rolled up together.
Willow, Evan noted, was wearing a newly knitted hat, so he assumed their drive had been productive.
Luke was still in crutches, but he seemed to be on a mission.
He zoomed past the rest of the guys and made a beeline straight for a bewildered looking Hugo. "Hugo—" he cried, "You massive, moronic idiot."
Luke dropped his crutches and threw all six foot something of himself at Hugo, who promptly buckled under the unsteady weight, and they hit the floor.
"I'm sorry—" Luke wailed, voice cracking comically as he tried to hug the other boy. "I'm sorry I condemned you man, fuck I suck."
Hugo laughed then. For the first time in a week, he laughed. "Get—" he yelped, "Off me you big oaf oh my god."
Luke rolled off him, "Why didn't you say anything?"
Hugo raised an eyebrow, "About being too broke to buy my drugs? Oh, I wonder—"
"Dude," Luke wailed, trying to hug him again.
The team crowded around them and pulled Luke up off the floor. Ethan handed him back his crutches. Luke took them thankfully.
"We are in fucking shambles without you man," Ethan groaned.
"Well you made it this far?"
"Barely," Hugo snorted, "No thanks to me. I broke your foot, and turned into a fucking zombie for two weeks—"
Then, a commotion at the far gate interrupted their reunion.
Evan looked over just in time to watch Theo get absolutely nailed in the face by that setter Leo Morelli.
Immediately, Evan let out a bark of laughter.
"Oh my god," Kei cheered.
Theo, honest to god, hit the floor, then, in the most ridiculous display of nonchalance, Leo walked away, or rather, it was more of a strut, leaving Theo and a few of his goons staring in angry shock.
Theo looked so pissed off it might have been slightly terrifying if he could actually do anything about it, which right now, he couldn't, not surrounded by cameras.
His team was a riotous group, and they all cheered around him.
This Leo guy was turning out to be a great time.
That fact solidified for Evan as he saw Leo up close.
He was cool as hell. He was tall, and had a myriad of silver piercings over his ears, as well as his lip, septum and eyebrow pierced. His hair was black at the roots, with a mismatched pattern of platinum blondish white over the tips, making it look like he'd been dunked in snow.
