My eyelids fly open, and I look around at my surroundings, noticing it's morning. The same nightmare I've been having lately flashes across my mind, my heart thundering against my skin as beads of sweat drip down my temples. I sit up, remembering that Ghirahim and I had travelled to Kakariko Village yesterday after darkness seemed to completely flood into Hyrule once more. We had gotten a room at an inn to rest up for our journey and I had decided we'd start with the Shadow Temple nearby that's guarded by Impa. I just hope I can pass through it without the Eye of Truth. Or the rest of the gear I had used before to navigate through it, since I have none of them anymore.
Something stirs across the room from me. I look to my left at another bed and see Ghirahim sitting up from under the covers. His cloak drapes over the headboard of the bed with his gloves on top of it, leaving him in a unique outfit. From what I can see, the outfit is white and only has one sleeveless strap over his left shoulder with diamond shapes cut out of it at his chest and over his toned stomach. He stands, revealing a golden coloured cloth sash across his waist with a red jewel on the side to keep it tied together. His boots appear attached to his leggings, which have diamond shapes cut out starting from his thigh all the way down to his ankles, shrinking in size as they go down. This outfit is skin-tight, showing off his fit body and his right arm has a golden ring wrapped around his smooth bicep.
"Enjoying the view, Skychild?" Ghirahim gloats, a large smirk spread across his face, which shows off a fang.
I'm about to retort when the fang stops me. "You're not human, are you?" I curiously ask.
Ghirahim hesitates, his smirk faltering the slightest bit. If I had blinked, I would have missed that change in his features. However, his smirk returns, but not as wide as before.
"No, I am not. Very observant of you, Skychild." He praises mockingly. Then he chuckles, "At least I know we are not at a complete loss on this journey. Granted, I have yet to see your prowess in battle. We could all doomed to an early demise," He muses, a twinkle of mischief in his dark earthy eyes as he raises his brows. Something about that look makes my heart speed up, thrumming against my ribs; but I can't figure out if I'm okay with that.
Wait... Why would I be okay with it at all? I wonder, then I snap myself out of my mind and glare at Ghirahim. "Then what are you, exactly?"
"Oh, surly, are we?" He chuckles lightly, "and you are not even indulging my teasing game. How hurtful!" He places a hand over his chest, feigning to be wounded by my actions.
I huff, "Just answer my question," I demand as I place my head in one hand, resting my elbow on my propped-up knee that's under the covers. This guy is already burning my chest with fury.
Ghirahim clicks his tongue, "If you must know, I am a demon. A Demon Lord to be exact. But I will excuse the need of such formalities, just for you."
My whole body stiffens. Demon Lord? Is he good? Evil? Will he trick me? Am I safe? Do I need to be on my guard? He hasn't done anything to me so far and he had all night to attack me. Unless is he playing a game with me? Some cruel and sick game he'll enjoy so an unknown wicked extent at my foolish mortal existence?
Warm breath on my jaw causes me to jerk away, snapping me back from my thoughts as I see Ghirahim inches from my face with a smirk on his lips. His tongue runs over his lips as he looks at me with curiosity and mischief, which darkens his eyes so much they appear as black as ink. It seems the latter is always in his eyes. At least, as far as I've seen in what little time that I've known him.
"Afraid, Skychild?" He questions. I think I can almost see pain deep in his eyes, threatening to cloud the mischief and curiosity at any second. But I can't be sure. However, now I feel the need to be more careful with my words than I ever have before, even in front of the King.
